Scout Expedition to Earleywood

Scout Expedition to Earleywood.

The Scouts camped overnight at our Gosling Road HQ, then hiked from there with their kit. It turned out to be a little too ambitious for us, so we dropped the kit at Bears Rails and had it ferried the rest of the way, while we continued hiking all the way through the Great Park to Sunninghill. Then we got lifts for the last few miles of road to Earleywood. We camped overnight there, cooking on hiking stoves and had a camp-fire.

The aim of the expedition was to climb on the tower that was built in memory of Andrew Coleman, a former 1st Langley Scout leader, who died walking in the Lake District. We spent almost 2 hours on the wall, climbing and abseiling, before going home.

A Report from one of the Patrol Leaders :-

Friday: The guys stayed at the hut and set up the tents before they had to sleep in them on Saturday.

Saturday: We met up early to set off on our hike. We left about 10, we walked to Bears Rails then we had lunch there, after that we walked through the Great Park to Ascot gate and then we met up with Eleanor and Julie who took us to the site.

In the evening we gathered fire wood and made a fire. We set up our tents and then got cooking. After our meal we had some songs and then went to bed. Unfortunately there was loud music so we were up until 12 =(

Sunday: We woke up early and packed up our stuff. Then we done the climbing wall and abseiling that was cool =) Finally we broke camp and our parents picked us up.
